YouTube’s New Channel Re-Design
We “all” know that YouTube has been redesigning their channel layout. Several advertisers and partners are already exploring this change and you can too but it’ll be rolled out to all users even if you don’t do anything. You just may be want to be at fore front of the chage and start customising your channel. Should there be any hicups on the planned switch over for all, details will be placed on the YouTube Blog.
Yes – Many don’t know it has a blog
This makes marketing on YouTube even more appealing as you present your video in a very custom area (channel) that you can personalise to your companies design.

There’s a some what long feature list that shows the things YouTube has addressed with regards to the new channels design:
- Fixing some browser-specific layout bugs (especially IE6)
- Allowing you to default your channel to “grid” view
- Allowing you to re-order your uploads and playlists
- Adding transparency
- Implementing fixes for a lot of other bugs you helped find, such as grid view not always working correctly
- Ability to right-click and open videos in a new tab or window
- Full screen capability and the ability for transparency settings to go to 100%.
- You can now have the full range of ads on your channel
- Sort controls – sort by most viewed, date added, or highest rated
- Ratings stars can now be clicked
- Counts for the number of videos in each section when in the “all” view mode
- When playing a video, the video title now links to the non-channel video watch page
- View a small number of video comments as well as leave a quick comment
- The font size is now larger while browsing through videos
- You can make the list of your playlists your features content set
- There are new share controls underneath the videos
- Endless loading cycles should now be gone
- They say, “No more channels with messed up layouts”
- You get a search box when looking at uploads
- Honours are back
- Video thumbnails are now larger
- More interaction options under the video player
- You can now feature a video by URL
- The subscribe button is yellow again
- You can choose a featured video
- You can link directly to a specific video and a specific playlist on your channel
- You can rearrange boxes on your channel with little arrows
- You can message users
- You can delete recent activity items
- The subscribe button appears when you’re looking at your own channel
There are other feature YouTube says they’re still looking to include like:
- The ability to reorder your uploads, or your lists of playlists
- Making URL autolink (in both the video description, plus the channel profile area)
- Showing the upload date in the video description
There are to be more changes no doubt as YouTube gets more feedback from it’s users but so far so good.
I believe that now is the time for you to get your custom YouTube Channel if you hadn’t considered it before. A video presence is great marketing for your business and the fact that you can brand your channel better it adds to your visitors’experience.
