Michael Rasmussen Get More Buyers Review & Domain Migration Pains

Filed Under (Online Business) by William & Susan on 26-10-2008

Michael Rasmussen Get More Buyers Review is here but for now, I need to moan about our web hosting pains - 24+ hours to reply a support ticket doesn’t help

We’re migrating 12 of our domains to other upgraded servers of the same hosting company but 4 domains with some crazy scripts have refused to work even after a fresh install :(

24+ hours later the response from the helpdesk states - “wrong DNS settings”

The host company at first blamed the wrong DNS settings etc but once in place even a new setup with those DNS settings failed to work. They were not wrong but the ones to which we’ll be migrating to. We didnt want to make these sites live if they dont work - we’re in test phase. So until they work like other sites on the new servers, its silly to point the domain names to them as site visitors wont be able to access them - at least I think so.

The issue is simple - are the new servers configured any differently from the previous ones apart from the PHP etc upgrades to a new version?

I thought it was a joke when I read it then I realised it means we now have to wait another 24 hours for them to reply to our feedback to such an answer.

With no other option, the script was re-installed and screen shots taken as evidence of successful installation then another of the HTTP 500 Internal Server Error which is all we get on accessing the site. We pointed out that all other sites work fine so there must be something else thats different on the server.

The wait continues …

We then decided to pass time by reviewing a yet to be launched product - “Get More Buyers” that launches on Tuesday 28 October 2008. This guy Michael Rasmussen has been around the block a few time and knows his stuff. We were lucky to get a preview opportunity before launch and can tell you if you need to build a responsive list then this will help you ten fold :)

Okay, so we’ve now learnt that instead of stressing over one thing that’s not working one can do all they can and leave it alone for a while then go on to finish off other pending tasks.

That way you’re still productive. Go have a look at our Review Of Michael Rasmussen’s Get More Buyers

Feel free to leave any funny comments below :)

Thanks - William

PS: I am just editing the get more buyers review video and it should be online by launch day - Tue 28 October 2008
