The Google Site PR Review Just Happened

The Big-G has done some updating of the site(s) pageranks (PR) as expected and I’ve heard some internet marketers moarning about loosing rankings.

Oops!

These updates are still happening into next week so you may see you final rankings some time next week but many like me have already the change in rankings applied to their properties. All our sites the ones we care about hence took the effort to optimize have gone up by a maximum of 2.

This shakes up happens approximately every 4 months though I’ve seen it happen in 3 or just over.

The PR is greatly used in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) analysis. As stated earlier, page rank (PR) is a value as persived by Google of the backlinks (links from other sites to your site) to the site in question. The sites are basically voting for your site as the “to go to” place for those looking for the information your site is about. The more PR the site linking to you is the more the Big-G will view your site as an authority. Basically, the MORE and HIGHER in pagerank value your sites’ backlinks are, the higher your pagerank will be as a result.

Don’t forget that internal linking (links within your site linking to other pages on that same site) also boosts your rankings. If you think of a pyramid structure as a mirror of your site then you’ll have links coming from the base upwards to the top. Use the anchor text you want the page you’re linking to to rank for and it should be one of your site’s niche related keyword. Google is now looking at theming, siloing & LSI so by doing this you’re giving the Big-G wants and it’ll give you that organic traffic and rankings – FREE!

Any way, now is a good time to look at rising sites PR1 ideally related to your niche and request links or find blogs and comment on them for that backlink. This means that those sites will most likely increase in PR in the next shake up that’s due in about 4 months from now. Make it your challenge to get those links and get your site some increase in PR in those 4 months. Do not only go for high PR sites as all links are benefitial. Analyze your niche competitors’ rankings in PR to know what you’re up against for the next 4 months. Very high PRs like PR4 and above might be difficult to shake off the front page of Google in organic search which should be the sweet spot you should be aiming for.

Don’t forget that the PR value of the backlinks is very important so if you aim to knock someone off the front page, get more links than them and also aim to get more high PR ranking backling i.e. get your backlinks from sites with high PRs. This blog has been neglected some what (just check how seldom we’ve been posting to it – very random too) and any backlink building happening here is very minimal in comparison to how it started out. But, we’ve got a jump of 2 from PR 1 to now PR3 and reason is simply because our link building strategies are based on good Search Engine Practice that for a while now has stood the test of time. Look at it. Is it a martial arts, health, internet marketing (IM) or gossip blog? Even I don’t know as the posts seem random but we’re going to stick to whats happening to us and that mainly involves IM

Back on topic, if you bought some ad space on some site, verify that they still have the same rank they offered you and see if you can negotiate a discount. Be careful as 4 months from now that site will most likely spring back up because they’re going to be hammering away at building links.

If your site’s rank went up, promote it some more and approach people advertising in your niche on sites that have low rankings etc and offer an ad space. It doesnt really matter much how they pay if its your first customer as they’ll give you some good testimony also since they’re free or advertising cheaply, they can be your test dummies for different ad locations and for you to know how much traffic you send them etc.

By the way, don’t focus too much on PR as I’ve seen many low rank PR sites out rank those with a higher value. Those site’s SEO was just better than that of the higher PR one as far as that search term is concern. That’s why having great anchor text in your backlinks in important.

This is going to be a complete A – Z of the whole process that you’ll be able to repeate over and over again in as many niches as you like. The point is to have your property online that produces month after month than just a one hit wonder.
